Educational Programs

The Coalition supplements the educational activities offered as part of each of its Best Practice Initiatives with additional programs designed to engage hospital leadership, promote systems improvements, and move from a culture of blame to a culture of safety. Recent education series have included sessions devoted to the issues surrounding disclosure of errors to patients, along with forums highlighting patient safety improvement strategies in medication safety, ICU services, and cardiac surgery outcomes. Our Collaboratives on Reconciling Medications and Communicating Critical Test Results are continuing through 2004. Most recently, the Coalition hosted the first of its kind workshop for local and national patient safety leaders to discuss the issue of accountability in health care.
